Drawing a tight circle around a boss will maximize the number of hits for the fastest run times. This is especially important for bosses, as you can easily spin right past them and keep going way too far while hitting nothing. Keeping your cursor close to your character allows for tighter control over your movement. Binding Whirlwind to Left Mouse will not allow you to hold the button and keep moving continuously. If you’ve rebound “show items” from Alt, you will have to use that key instead. The most common method to avoid this is to hold down Alt while casting by holding Right Mouse. Casting Whirlwind on an enemy will cause your character to begin the Whirlwind animation and move to the target monster only to stop the moment your target comes in range. Second, you want to avoid targeting enemies when casting Whirlwind and instead cast to a point on the ground. Your life leech from attacks will be keeping you healed up for the most part, but if you are spinning through empty space or hitting mobs you cannot leech off of (skeletons, gloams, Diablo, etc.) you will be forced to watch helplessly as your health gets chunked away and to pray that it stays above zero until you are able to potion or leech again. You cannot use any potions during the Whirlwind animation, however long it happens to be. There are a few nuances of Whirlwind that are important to remember when playing your Whirlwind Barb. Modifiers on maps can supplement MF when farming for items. Gear favors damage, and therefore clear speed, over magic find.
